Be challenged. Be inspired.
Be prepared.
Students are individuals, not simply members of a class. That’s why Paraclete teachers and staff connect with each student on a personal level—and since we’re significantly smaller than the public schools in the area, those connections play a significant role in helping every student find success.
Where will the Spirit of Knowledge lead you?
Paraclete offers unlimited opportunities for students to reach their potential. With a wide variety of educational programs, our academic requirements are focused on preparing students for a 4-year college—and we work closely toward that goal each and every day.
Programs of Study
English
English
From mastering grammar and vocabulary to developing a critical attitude toward literature, students receive well-rounded instruction in English and language arts. In addition to in-class assignments, summer and independent reading are required. Students may even choose to take beginning and advanced journalism courses. Four years of English are required for graduation.
Mathematics
Mathematics
All students are required to complete three years of mathematics at Paraclete, which must include Algebra and Geometry. Algebra II and Geometry are required for university admissions. For students who will pursue a career in Mathematics, Science, or Engineering, four years of mathematics, including Algebra II and Pre-Calculus, is recommended, and for selective colleges, may be required.
Laboratory Science
Laboratory Science
Two years of laboratory science are required for graduation. Courses include various levels of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Anatomy, including Honors and A.P. options. Students may even elect to take a hands-on approach with Robotics, a class that introduces basic concepts focusing on programming robots with real-world applications.
Visual/Performing Arts
Visual/Performing Arts
Each student is required to take at least one year of visual or performing arts in order to graduate. With the wide variety of creative classes to choose from, there is truly something that will appeal to everyone. Courses can be musical and performance-focused; hands-on such as studio art or photography; or concepts such as art history or film. Some courses require auditions before approval is granted.
Health/Phys. Ed.
Health/Phys. Ed.
Each student is required to take at least one year of physical education in order to graduate. At Paraclete, we provide a Physical Education/Health class for Freshmen that provides a healthy, physical, co-educational experience in a Christian environment of good sportsmanship and good citizenship. The health component explores basic knowledge of the human body, personal hygiene, environmental care, nutrition, and the causes, prevention and cures of various diseases.
Religion
Religion
A religion course is required during each semester at Paraclete. Out of respect for the diversity of the student body, Paraclete presents the Catholic perspective, but teaches critical thinking. We allow students to explore and take ownership of their own faith and beliefs in a moral and values-based environment. Religion courses explore Catholicism from the perspectives of scripture, Ecclesiology, morality, and living a Christian life. Learn More Here.
History
History
Three years of history/social studies are required for graduation. With both Honors and A.P. courses offered, the History curriculum at Paraclete explores World History, European History, and United States History. Our department also encompasses engaging social studies topics such as government, economics, psychology, sociology, and criminal justice.
World Languages
World Languages
All students are required to complete two years of the same language other than English. At Paraclete, students are offered language courses from basic to advanced in both Spanish and French. Also offered is an immersive Spanish Language and Culture class that emphasizes communication.
Computer Science
Computer Science
For those students interested in a Computer Science Pathway, Paraclete offers courses at each level. Starting with CS1, students learn basic programming skills with RobotC, JavaScript, Xcode and Swift. From there, they may learn Python and Java in two year long courses. Finally, AP Computer Science Principles may be completed for college credit. Students are introduced to real-world applications to prepare them for Computer Science in college. Students are assigned personal devices throughout their high school career at Paraclete.
