Athletic Information

Welcome from the Athletic Director

Welcome to Spirit Athletics! The purpose of Paraclete Athletics is to provide our students with an opportunity to compete and be successful while instilling the concept of teamwork and work ethic that improves an individual’s emotional well-being and prowess. Paraclete Athletics is committed to providing a positive, challenging, competitive, and fair athletic experience that emphasizes the Spirit principles coupled with personal integrity, sportsmanship, wellness, and fulfillment of the student athlete’s potential. We strive to make athletic participation an environment that sparks a lifelong appreciation for competition, exercise, discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and the pursuit of victory with honor. The primary goal of the athletic program is to build physical strength, self-discipline, and team spirit in an atmosphere permeated with idealism, energy, and the values proclaimed to us by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Above all, this must be evident throughout every aspect of the athletic program, and most especially, in the conduct of student athletes, parents, coaches and staff. Paraclete participates in the CIF Southern Section.

Blessings,
Rick Bruce

Student-Athlete Clearances

There are a few things required for clearance to play sports at Paraclete. These include Paperwork to Play for the current school year, a Home Campus application for the current school year, and maintaining academic eligibility.

Paperwork to Play consists of:

  • A hard copy of the current physical clearance page (cleared for sports) – filled out, signed, dated, and STAMPED by the doctor
  • A hard copy of the blue informational card – filled out on both sides and signed on the back by the student and the parent

Home Campus

Home Campus is the informational clearinghouse for the CIF – athletes and coaches are cleared here, official schedules are maintained, rosters and scores are entered, etc.

*Note that our PHS Athletic Calendar is linked to the Home Campus calendar and updates with any changes made there. You can add our PHS Athletic Calendar to your personal calendar.

A completed Home Campus application for the current school year requires uploads of the physical clearance page and the front and back of the blue card in order to be processed, so be sure to take pictures of those three pages before turning in the hard copies.

Students will need a new application for each new school year. Please do not create new accounts or multiple applications for a single school year; doing so may lead to confusion and/or slower clearance.

The same account may have up to four applications (one for each school year), and each application is good for all sports selected that school year. You may add more sports to an application in the same school year by logging in and adding the desired sport(s).

Create an account on Home Campus:

  • Go to HomeCampus
  • Click on “For Students & Parents” (blue & white button, top right)
  • Select “California”
  • Click on “Create an Account”
  • Select the “I am a PARENT” bullet (NOT the STUDENT), use the parent email, and create a password. *You are creating an account; any time we or Home Campus need to notify you (the parent) of an expired physical, you will get the email.
  • You will then have to verify your email; check your Spam folder if it does not show up quickly.

Create an application for the new school year:

  • Once you’re back on the website, click on the top button labeled “Start Clearance Here”
  • Type in the school name (Paraclete), click on the correct year, and then click on the sport your student will be playing. If there are multiple sports your student wants to play, click “Add New Sport” for each one. Then click “Next”
  • Follow the steps with student information. If you do not know your student’s ID, type in “N/A.” Click “Save and Continue” when finished.
  • On the next screen, fill out the Parent/Guardian info and click “Save and Continue.”
  • Accept or decline the NCSA offer.
  • On the next screen, answer their medical history to the best of your ability and lick “Save and Continue.”
  • On the next screen, fill out which school you attended last year and then click “Save and Continue.”
  • On the signatures page, read the pages and type your name in the parent signature box for each to confirm that you have read and understand them; you do not print anything out unless you are keeping them for your records. Then, have your student read and type in their name in the signature box for each document; click “Submit.” *Be sure that the name matches exactly each time, or it will not let you advance.
  • Upload the clearance page of your physical along with the front and back of the blue card into the “Files” section. Click “Save and Continue.”

Congratulations! Your student-athlete is now registered for sports at Paraclete. You will get a confirmation email stating you have completed the online process. Another email will be sent to you once your student is fully cleared.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOUR STUDENT IS CLEARED TO PARTICIPATE!

Athletic clearance is pending until physical and blue card verifications are done, academic eligibility is checked, and any transfer documentation is approved by CIF.

Please contact Dr. Sandberg with clearance questions.

Athletic Directors

Rick Bruce – Athletic Director

“Jesus says ‘Lower Your Nets’ and that has been my calling for the last 46 years.  Serving students as a Catholic School Educator is truly a blessing in my life.  I became a teacher/coach right out of college in 1977 and am now heading into my 46 th  year as an educator with 39 of those years in Catholic High Schools and this is my 36 th  year as an Athletic Director.  Along with my vocation as a Catholic educator, my family and tennis are my passions.  My wife, children and grandchildren are the joys of my life. I played college tennis in the mid 70’s and have coached tennis throughout my career.  I am also blessed to have been able to coach varsity basketball for 15 years as well as varsity volleyball, baseball and softball at different points in my career.  I am thrilled to be Athletic Director of Paraclete High School.  “Go, Spirit Nation!”
